BJP shouts ‘land grab’; court says ‘civil suit’
Delhi noise, Uttarakhand paperwork. The BJP tried to pin a Congress-family ‘grab’ on Khan Farm; the High Court’s record shows what actually exists: a live inheritance fight, an injunction, and officials asked to explain their own detour.
The High Court record describes a live civil dispute and an operative injunction, not a finding of land grab.
The BJP’s national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari held a presser on 2 July alleging a Congress-linked “illegal land grab” in Uttarakhand — naming Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Robert Vadra, Saira Vadra and Congress MLA Tilak Raj Behar. He claimed landowners were intimidated and pushed to vacate. That is a political allegation, not a document. According to the same coverage, no response from the Congress leaders was offered at the time.
The paperwork we can actually read is from the Uttarakhand High Court on 3 July in Sikandar Alam Khan v State of Uttarakhand. It records a civil dispute over Khan Farm at Pipaliya, Kichha: the recorded owner Kulsum Khan died on 18 December 2025; the state told the court there is a will in favour of Saira Vadra and Sikandar Alam Khan; rival claims were raised by Nasreen Sanga and others; and a civil judge’s temporary injunction on 11 June restrains interference and forcible dispossession. The High Court called parallel administrative proceedings “prima facie surprising”, summoned the SDM and SHO to explain, and directed police to ensure the civil-court order is obeyed. It did not find any “land grab”.
A later local report quotes the Kichha SDM saying the administration restored status quo at the farm, after which Saira Vadra entered; Saira called it “truth has prevailed”. That’s one side’s gloss; the core point remains: this is a live civil case with an operative injunction, not proof of a Congress-commanded heist.
