BJP’s 1,000 lies arrive without the arithmetic
The Telangana BJP’s charge-sheet against the Congress government is documented. Its biggest numbers are not.
The charge-sheet has arrived; the supporting arithmetic has not.
The Telangana BJP has released a charge-sheet titled “1000 Days, 1000 Lies, 1000 Betrayals” against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s Congress government. The event and its broad allegations were independently reported, with BJP Legislature Party leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy identified as the principal speaker. (Organiser; UNI; The New Indian Express)
The charge-sheet reportedly claims ₹15,000 crore in fee-reimbursement dues and around ₹4 lakh crore borrowed in 33 months. Those figures remain political assertions. Telangana’s official 2026–27 Budget-in-Brief records public debt outstanding at ₹4,47,493 crore in the 2024–25 accounts, ₹5,03,905 crore in the 2025–26 revised estimate and ₹5,62,363 crore in the 2026–27 budget estimate. That is a debt table, not proof of fresh borrowing of ₹4 lakh crore by one government. (Telangana Budget-in-Brief)
The government’s records do show scheme allocations and implementation claims: ₹18,000 crore for Rythu Bharosa in the 2025–26 budget, and ₹583.05 crore paid to discoms under Gruha Jyothi up to June 2024. They do not establish that every promise reached every eligible beneficiary. The BJP has supplied a charge-sheet; the supporting ledger is still missing.
