‘Break-even in four days,’ says SKN
Chennai Love Story opened July 24. The producer says it already broke even across Andhra, Nizam and Ceded. The documents that would prove it did not turn up with the claim.
The producer’s break-even claim was not accompanied by cost, rights or settlement documents.
Producer SKN says Chennai Love Story hit break-even in just four days across Andhra, Nizam and Ceded. He made the claim at a success event on July 29, adding that Shashi of Mythri Movie Makers (Nizam) and a distributor named Yathi had confirmed a strong run, and that the Andhra distributor would share numbers at an upcoming press meet. The film, starring Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya and written-directed by Ravi Namburii, released on July 24.
What we can actually check: a July 25 trade round-up cited Sacnilk at an estimated ₹8.29 crore worldwide gross and ₹4.95 crore India net by then, while the makers’ own poster had claimed over ₹12.3 crore worldwide for opening day and premieres. A later tracker page carries day-wise estimates, and another report pegged day-four India net near ₹3 crore after a ₹6.5 crore Sunday — all trade estimates, not audited settlements.
What we could not find: a cost figure, territory rights values, distributor-share thresholds, or exhibitor settlement sheets that would show where “break-even” sits and whether the parties crossed it. SKN’s line is the claim; the paperwork that would turn it into a fact was not published in the sources reviewed.
For a Telugu film partly set in Chennai about Telugu workers in Chennai — per SKN, Sai Rajesh wrote it with that backdrop — the only surprise here is that box-office arithmetic still needs an audit trail in 2026. National parties promise ‘transparency’ every poll season; the film trade is still doing it on vibes.
