Committee Kurrollu wins two National Film Awards
The official record credits the film, its producers and director—not the celebrity hand receiving the trophy.
The National Film Awards record credits the film’s producers and director.
Telugu cinema has brought home two Rajat Kamals at the 72nd National Film Awards, and this time the paperwork agrees with the headline.
Committee Kurrollu won Best Telugu Film, with the official winners list crediting Pink Elephant Pictures, Shree Radha Damodara Studios and director Yadhu Vamsee. The film also won Best Make-up for P Ravi Kumar. Each listed award carries a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh.
Niharika Konidela accepted the Best Telugu Film award on behalf of the production banners, according to the Telugu Film Producers Council. The formal government record, however, names the banners and Yadhu Vamsee as the award credits; it does not list Niharika as the winner. A useful distinction, especially in an industry where the person holding the trophy can outrun the people officially credited for making the film.
President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards at Ekta Nagar, Kevadia, Gujarat, on September 22, 2026. Telugu cinema got the award. The publicity machinery can leave the credit where the document puts it.
