Congress ministers in Karnataka defended B Nagendra during the Assembly’s Valmiki Corporation row, saying the SIT and Lokayukta had cleared him and that 99.5% of the money had been recovered. The paperwork, rather less enthusiastic, has not appeared.
Health Minister UT Khader and Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi made those claims while accusing the BJP of disrupting the monsoon session instead of allowing debate. The BJP was demanding Nagendra’s resignation. A separate government reply, reported on August 18, said Rs 84.63 crore had been misused from an account holding Rs 187.33 crore, 14 people had been arrested and the case remained under investigation. Nagendra was not named in the SIT’s 2024 preliminary chargesheet. That is not the same thing as a clean chit. The ED later called him a primary accused, and the CBI’s June 2026 chargesheets named him among 30 accused. Those are allegations, not convictions.
