Congress shouts ‘diversion’; record says ‘Gujarat’
Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy says BJP and BRS are blocking Telangana projects and “diverted” semiconductor units. The files we can see show Musi, RRR and Metro exist on paper — and chips went to Gujarat by formal approval. What’s missing is the bridge between the press line and the paperwork.
The files show approved projects and proposals; the missing link is the one between the claim and the record.
Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy told the cameras the BJP and the BRS are “deliberately trying to obstruct Telangana’s development”, and even “diverted” semiconductor projects “intended for Telangana” to Gujarat. That was at Gandhi Bhavan; the documents aren’t at the mic.
Here’s what the record does show. Musi rejuvenation is a real state-backed programme: the Musi Riverfront Development Corporation was set up by GO Ms No. 90 (MA&UD) on 25 March 2017, with a 55‑km riverfront vision and tenders still live in 2026. The 2024‑25 state budget listed Musi as a priority and put Rs 1,000 crore against it. The Regional Ring Road sits in the state’s planning pitch, and the government has said it wants it “at the earliest”. Metro expansion has been publicly announced, with routes under review, including through the Old City.
And semiconductors? The BJP‑led Centre has formally approved fabs and ATMPs in Gujarat — Micron in Sanand, Tata’s Dholera plant at a proposed Rs 91,000 crore, CG and Kaynes among others — plus projects in a handful of other states. Telangana is not on that approval list. That’s the paper trail.
What the paper trail does not show: a semiconductor project first allocated to Telangana and then moved to Gujarat; a Union rejection letter for a Telangana chip proposal; or a specific BJP or BRS act that blocked Musi, the RRR or Metro. Those are Chamala’s claims; the files to prove them were not produced.
If the Congress has MoUs, DPR sanctions, Cabinet notes or Union file numbers that back the “intended for Telangana” line, put them on the table. Until then, the only diversion on record is of attention — from documents to a podium. The BJP‑led Centre is welcome to explain why a fast‑growing tech state isn’t on its chip map; it hasn’t bothered so far.
