Congress throws blame, skips proof

A Congress MP says BJP and BRS are blocking Telangana’s development, even diverting semicon projects to Gujarat. The paper trail he needs to prove it is missing. We checked.

An oversized press microphone projects labels for chips, Metro and Musi over an empty evidence file, while Hyderabad development projects appear in the background.

The claims were made; the supporting documents were not shown.

Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy used a Gandhi Bhavan presser on August 25 to accuse the BJP and the BRS of “deliberately trying to obstruct Telangana’s development” and running false propaganda against the state government. He also claimed semiconductor projects “intended for Telangana” were diverted to Gujarat, and said the BJP is opposing the Musi rejuvenation, the Regional Ring Road and Metro expansion. Those are his charges; the documents to back them did not appear at the mic.

What the record does show: the Telangana government says it met Union ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw, G. Kishan Reddy and Manohar Lal Khattar in June and agreed to appoint SBICAPS as consultant on Hyderabad Metro Phase‑I takeover and Phase‑II expansion, with next steps to follow the report. That reads like a live Centre–state process, not a recorded BJP block. The Musi Riverfront plan is on the state’s own site with a 55‑km scope; it lists ambitions, not a BJP or BRS veto.

On chips, the Union electronics ministry’s note lists approvals in Gujarat — Tata’s ₹91,526 crore fab and OSAT units by CG Power and Kaynes. It does not say any of these were sanctioned for Telangana and then shifted. If a proposal for Telangana existed — MoU, file number, land, incentives — it isn’t in the docket Chamala showed, because none was shown.

Chamala has run this line more than once this week; repetition is not evidence. If the BJP or the BRS blocked a Musi tender, a Metro file, or an RRR clearance, name the order and the date and we’ll run it in bold. Until then, this is a Congress press conference — and the homework is still on the way to school.
