Dookudu back on Aug 7. Again.

Mahesh Babu’s 2011 hit returned to theatres on its 15th anniversary weekend. The date was listed, then “officially” plugged by 14 Reels Plus — and shows did happen. What nobody has published: the Telangana theatre list, the distributor, or the screen count.

A cinema ticket counter in Hyderabad displays a large Dookudu 4K return poster, while a locked glass noticeboard beside it contains blank fields for theatres, distributor, screen count and grosses; a small queue waits under a sign reading “August 7”.

Dookudu returned to theatres, but the public record stopped short of a screen count.

Mahesh Babu’s Dookudu marked 15 years by heading back to cinemas around August 7 — the date first showed up on trade calendars, then in a 14 Reels Plus post promising “Dookudu storms into theatres worldwide this August 7th,” framed as a tribute to Super Star Krishna. Screens lit up in at least some markets over the weekend, with US listings advertising Dookudu 4K on August 8 and fan shows reported in Hyderabad and beyond.

What’s on the record: two separate calendars carried August 7 as the re-release date; a May 31 social post attributed to 14 Reels Plus called it a worldwide theatrical return; and US booking pages listed showtimes. What’s not: any public tally of screens, a Telangana theatre list, a named re-release distributor, or audited grosses. Even the trade sites can’t agree on whether the “official announcement” was pending or past tense.

Credit where it’s due — fans got their shows. Now try doing what governments love to promise and rarely deliver: publish the actual numbers. The BJP-led Centre and the Congress wherever they run a screen count both adore a headline; Telangana audiences prefer receipts.
