Draft roll out; math still pending
Telangana’s draft electoral rolls under the Special Intensive Revision are live. A report quoting the state CEO pegs 2.648 crore forms received and 92 lakh records flagged for scrutiny. The official table that explains those buckets is still not public.

What happened: Telangana’s election machinery says the SIR draft electoral rolls for all 119 Assembly constituencies are up. The CEO’s site points voters to the draft-roll portal and the online forms; the Election Commission’s process is running off the state CEO’s office. (ceotelangana.nic.in)
The numbers doing the rounds: A report quoting Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy says 3,38,26,448 electors, 2,64,87,213 enumeration forms submitted (78.30%), and 92 lakh records flagged for notices — by adding 60.50 lakh “anomalies” and 32 lakh “unmapped” entries. It also lists 73 lakh in the ASDD bucket (absent/shifted/death/duplicate), with a split including 9,22,229 deaths, 57,46,803 shifted/unavailable and 6,70,203 duplicates. Claims/objections are said to run Aug 17–Sep 16, with a final roll on Oct 19. These figures are attributed to the CEO at a briefing; the underlying official table is not posted. (ntnews.com)
What’s confirmed on record: The CEO earlier said missing names can be restored via Form 6 and that deletions require notice, inquiry and a chance to respond — no one loses a vote by rumour. Officials also admitted there’s no live system yet to catch voters registered in two states, and that BLOs investigate non-returned forms before exclusion. (telanganatoday.com)
Read the math correctly: 3.38 crore electors minus 2.65 crore submitted forms is about 73.39 lakh — close to the reported ASDD pool, not 92 lakh. That 92-lakh headline is a scrutiny bucket, not a deletion list. Until the CEO publishes the sheet that defines “anomaly”, “unmapped” and “correctly filled”, treat it as exactly what it is: a claim, with an author. (ntnews.com)
Dates, revised: Earlier reports had July 31 for the draft and Oct 1 for the final roll. The new Aug 17/Sep 16/Oct 19 sequence needs the official notification on the CEO’s site to settle it. Until then, it’s reported, not recorded. (telanganatoday.com; ceotelangana.nic.in)
Why this matters here: Telangana voters are entitled to a clean roll and a fair path to fix errors. The BJP’s favourite national pastime — screaming “ghost voters” until the cameras leave — doesn’t clean a single page, and the Congress’s other-state governments have their hands full explaining their own rolls. We’ll take the record over the spin: publish the CEO’s table, define the buckets, and let voters see the work. The draft is up; the documentation should be too.
