Telangana’s Special Intensive Revision has closed the door on door-to-door. Booth Level Officers finished house visits on August 3; the draft electoral roll is due on August 10, with claims and objections open August 10–September 9 and disposal running through October 8. Final rolls are slated for October 12, with October 1 set as the qualifying date, according to the schedule issued for this SIR.

On the headline number doing the rounds: a July 18 report put “uncollectible” voters at over 13.34 lakh during verification. A later report quoting Chief Electoral Officer C Sudarshan Reddy said about 27 lakh electors were identified in categories likely to be excluded from the draft — deaths, permanent shifts, duplicates and untraceable entries — with verification still ongoing then. Those are flags, not confirmed deletions, and similar or discrepant records are to be verified before a name is actually struck.

For voters, two practical points from the CEO and ECI: if your name is missing in the draft, you can apply on Form 6 — the CEO said the facility is available from August 1. And no documents were required during house enumeration; documents come in only if, after the draft, an Electoral Registration Officer issues you a notice for linking or discrepancy. Urban verification has been messier thanks to mixed-up addresses; municipal staff have been roped in to help.

The BJP-led Centre’s grand talk on “clean rolls” won’t help you if your name is misplaced in your own ward; checking the August 10 draft will. And if the Congress can find its script in Karnataka, it can try answering Telangana’s voters here by October 12.
