ECI sets dates. Rumours set the rest
SIR-2026 is on; draft rolls were due July 31 and claims run till August 30, per the Election Commission’s own schedule. District-wise “1.5 lakh deletions” in Nirmal–Adilabad are a single-report projection with unnamed “officials” and no public document behind it.

Telangana’s Special Intensive Revision is underway, but the only hard dates on the record are the Election Commission of India’s: draft electoral rolls on July 31, 2026, claims and objections through August 30, and final rolls on October 1. That is from the schedule, not a whisper.
A report doing the rounds says about 1.5 lakh names in Nirmal and Adilabad “face deletion”, citing unnamed officials and an August 10 “deadline” for enumeration forms. No district notice, CEO Telangana update or ECI document was found to back those specific counts or that date. The ECI’s own calendar places house-to-house work June 25–July 24, draft rolls on July 31, and the window to file claims and objections July 31–August 30. Another report says enumeration ran till August 3 and draft rolls on August 10 — which sounds like a date mix-up, not a new rule.
What is clear: voters can file claims and objections now, on the ECI portal or with local officers. What is not: the source table that turns “85,000 in Nirmal” and “60,000 in Adilabad” from projections into decisions. Until a named official files the list, it is still a claim. The BJP-led Centre loves a headline about “cleaning rolls”; the record, as usual, lives on eci.gov.in, not in anonymous arithmetic.
