The farmers say they hold pattadar passbooks and patta certificates and have cultivated the land for decades. They challenged the Forest Department’s move to dispossess them. Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti reportedly questioned the Revenue Department’s authority over forest land, saying: “Even if the office of the highest authority in the executive says give forest land, we will not agree.”
