GO 97 deadline passed; paperwork still buffering

The Telangana Polytechnic Joint Action Committee’s 8 p.m. deadline on September 25 has passed. The revised government order it demanded over GO 97 was still not publicly available in the sources checked as of September 26.

The JAC had warned that it would resume protests and consider an examination boycott if the government did not issue a satisfactory written resolution. The government’s six-member committee, headed by adviser K. Keshava Rao, had reportedly assured students and staff that polytechnics would remain under the Technical Education Department and that diploma education would not change. The formal order, however, remained missing.

The dispute includes the future affiliation of polytechnics with Young India Skills University. Student organisations want GO 97 withdrawn, arguing that protecting current students while leaving future affiliation open would preserve the problem under a tidier label.

There is no reliable public confirmation that a revised order was issued after the deadline or that examinations were boycotted. The Telangana government’s own gazette page identifies the e-Gazette as the authorised legal repository; no revised GO was found there in the accessible search. The committee may have held consultations. Students are still waiting for the document that makes them count.
