‘Guaranteed flat’, just add Rs 5 lakh
A report alleges touts are cold-calling Indiramma Towers applicants with offers to “fix” the lottery for money. No names, no FIRs, no receipts yet — just the promise that rules bend when the Congress is in power.

A report this week alleged that intermediaries are calling Hyderabad Indiramma Indlu Towers applicants and offering “guaranteed” flats outside the draw — for Rs 2–5 lakh in most places and up to Rs 10 lakh in Rayadurg, Jubilee Hills and Kukatpally. The callers allegedly claim links to ministers and Congress MLAs and say they have access to applicant data, possibly via MeeSeva centres. The report does not name a single minister, MLA, intermediary, applicant, MeeSeva centre or officer, and cites no complaint, recording or receipt. (Source: the report itself.)
The lottery they claim to “fix” is real: official housing guidelines for urban multi‑storey allotments say flats are to be allotted “by way of lots” after verification and local‑body scrutiny. For the current Towers, earlier notices said a computerised draw would follow field checks after August 20. None of that proves anyone can influence the result — it only explains why a scam pitch would find buyers.
On the money, the government’s own scheme record says Indiramma Indlu provides Rs 5,00,000 per house as 100% subsidy in Phase I, with a first‑phase target of 4.5 lakh houses. Any “extra” being quoted by callers is not in the rulebook; it is the alleged bribe. A separate High Court matter from March recorded a Mulugu resident’s allegation that officials and Congress functionaries there sought Rs 50,000–1,00,000 for selections — the court sought responses, it did not certify it happened.
If Hyderabad applicants are being shaken down for Rs 2–10 lakh as alleged, that is for the Housing Department and the Hyderabad police to shut down yesterday. The Congress government is running this scheme; it does not get to look surprised at a racket trading on its name.
