Gujarat’s Rs 50.43 lakh ‘tank’ goes missing
A single report says a Bhavnagar government hospital billed for a 2.55-lakh-litre underground water tank that the Gujarat Health Minister allegedly could not find. A Telugu report says Gujarat Health Minister Praful Pansheriya made a surprise visit to a Bhavnagar government hospital and allegedly did not find a 2.55-lakh-litre underground water tank there — despite a Rs 50.43 lakh bill raised for it. According to that report, he ordered the suspension of two engineers, named as Mehul Dave and N.V. Kalia, and told officials to file a police complaint and move to blacklist a Surat-based contractor.
That is as far as the record goes today. The report does not name the hospital or the contractor, and it does not publish a suspension order, an inspection note, a police complaint, a tender, a work order, a bill approval, or proof that any money was paid. The Bhavnagar district site lists Sir T Hospital, but nothing reviewed links it to this incident.
Gujarat is ruled by the BJP, which likes lecturing others on governance. On this one, it can start with its own paperwork: put out the orders, the work records, and the FIR if it exists. Until the BJP government in Gujarat shows its files, it is asking everyone to take a missing tank on faith.
