HC calls Army to guard Secunderabad land

Justice Anil Kumar Jukanti on Thursday ordered steps to deploy Army personnel to secure a disputed private parcel in Lothukunta, Secunderabad, while hearing contempt petitions by M/s Shantha Sriram Constructions. According to the Times of India’s report of the proceedings, the judge said the court had “lost all faith in the state government and its instrumentalities,” and asked the Registrar General to contact the senior‑most Brigadier of the Bison Division to provide a list of 10 personnel by Friday for site protection.
Multiple outlets reported that the direction followed allegations that the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) entered the land despite earlier High Court orders. South First reported the court said the Army should be authorised to take into custody anyone, including HYDRAA officials, found entering the property, and to place them in barracks, with vehicles on site liable to seizure.
The News Minute identified the parcel as roughly 40 acres in Survey Nos. 1 and 2 of Lothukunta, Malkajgiri Mandal, and noted the next hearing was posted to Friday. In June, the court had pulled up HYDRAA over entry onto the site despite directions, with the land’s private status recorded in those proceedings, the New Indian Express reported.
A Telangana Today follow‑up on Friday night said the court deferred consideration of the Army‑deployment direction until Monday, citing assurances from the Advocate General; no second outlet had corroborated the deferral at the time of filing. The High Court’s website had not posted the signed orders for July 23–24 when checked.
