High Court asks for Ganesh festival paperwork
The Telangana government says meetings were held and cases registered. The court wants the paperwork before the immersion does the usual disappearing act.

The Telangana High Court has sought a compliance report on the implementation of its directions for the Ganesh festival, with the immersion scheduled for September 25. Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar issued the direction on September 22 and listed the matter for September 24, according to published reports.
The case arose from a contempt petition by Chinnolla Damodhar Reddy and M. Srinivasa Reddy of Nirmal district, who alleged that earlier directions on noise pollution and sound systems were not being followed. Those directions, issued on August 26, 2025, reportedly restricted sound systems to 6 pm–10 pm and required police monitoring of decibel levels. They also covered pandal permissions, keeping roads and emergency routes clear, electrical safety, complaint desks, eco-friendly idols and post-immersion cleaning.
Government Pleader Mahesh Raje told the court that police had held meetings with organisers and committee members on September 13 and 16, taken preventive action against DJ operators and registered several criminal cases. The reports do not provide the number of cases, FIR details, decibel readings or inspection records. The government’s assurance is therefore still waiting for its supporting paperwork.
