Voters in Hyderabad have begun receiving SIR-2026 notices — the verification round before any change to the rolls — while the numbers flagged are large and specific: 5,80,908 ‘unmapped’ electors and 6,72,678 with recorded anomalies, totalling 12,53,586. These district figures are reported by multiple publications and attributed to Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy; a public CEO document listing the Hyderabad breakdown was not located.
State election authorities have put SIR-2026 links live. The ECI portal hosts the SIR data “as received, without any modification” and lets voters check if a notice exists against their EPIC and submit documents online. Coverage of the rollout says notices are being served August 17–September 16 across Telangana, and when the CEO last spoke only about 650 of nearly 15 lakh generated statewide had actually been served — so Hyderabad’s full tranche is not in mailboxes yet.
For Hyderabad voters: a notice starts verification; it is not a deletion order. For the BJP-led Centre and its chorus that prefer yelling “bogus rolls” from Delhi, the record here is dull: forms, IDs and an audit trail — exactly the bit they skip in speeches.
