Hyderabad’s biggest screen is still a rumour

Several reports say Chiranjeevi and Asian Cinemas may be discussing a large-format multiplex near Gachibowli. Neither party has confirmed it.

A huge blank cinema screen frame towers over a small empty fenced plot near Hyderabad office towers, resting on newspaper clippings and speech bubbles, with a tiny sign reading 'VENUE?'.

The proposed screen has yet to acquire a confirmed site.

Hyderabad may be getting a very large cinema screen. It may also be getting another unconfirmed entertainment report. The distinction matters.

Several reports published on September 20 said actor Chiranjeevi was reportedly in talks with Hyderabad-based Asian Cinemas for a multiplex project near Gachibowli or the Financial District. The reports described a proposed screen roughly 120 feet wide and 69 feet high, and one suggested it could rival the world’s largest cinema screens. Those details remain claims in entertainment reports, not confirmed project specifications.

The original report itself says Chiranjeevi has made no official announcement. Asian Cinemas’ accessible official material contains no confirmation, while Chiranjeevi’s public X profile also shows no announcement confirming the venture. There is no verified information on land, funding, approvals, construction, ownership, technology or an opening date.

So Hyderabad has, at present, a reported plan, a possible partner and several possible names. The screen has not yet acquired the one feature cinema projects generally need: a venue.
