Irumudi’s ‘₹75 cr’ weekend — by estimates
Ravi Teja’s new release is off to a strong start in the Telugu states. The numbers doing the rounds are trade estimates, not audited filings — which, in Indian box office land, counts as transparency.
Trade estimates put Irumudi’s opening weekend at different totals, depending on the yardstick.
Ravi Teja’s Irumudi, directed by Shiva Nirvana and produced by Mythri Movie Makers (T-Series presenting), opened on August 21. Trade trackers say it’s moving. How fast depends on which tracker you ask — and what they’re actually measuring.
TrackTollywood pegs a three-day worldwide share at ₹44.25 crore including GST, and ₹39.69 crore excluding GST, with ₹30.34 crore of that share from AP/Telangana. A separate FilmyFast estimate puts the “first weekend” at about ₹75.35 crore worldwide gross, off an underlying ₹43.17 crore worldwide collections line. Another TrackTollywood live board shows a four-day India gross at ₹64.82 crore. Different yardsticks, similar scale.
On the India side, Filmibeat (citing Sacnilk) reports ₹62.40 crore India net after four days — ₹15.30 cr Fri, ₹16.20 cr Sat, ₹19 cr Sun, ₹11.90 cr Mon — while Pinkvilla’s trade note rounds the India gross to roughly ₹72 crore in four days, about ₹63 crore from the Telugu states. Pinkvilla also says, helpfully and unusually, that these are subjective trade estimates, not certified accounts.
What we could not find: a producer or distributor filing, a studio poster claiming a number, or audited exhibitor data. In other words, all roads lead to trade trackers. That’s standard for Indian box office — lots of heat, little paperwork — and it puts the onus on readers to mind the labels: share vs net vs gross are not interchangeable.
For Telangana, the headline is simpler than the arithmetic: the Telugu states are doing the heavy lifting on Irumudi’s run. The national circus can keep arguing about “record openers”; the tills in AP/Telangana are the only record that matters here.
