Jubilee Hills liquor tender: six applications, four unanswered crores
A report alleges poor disclosure around a Jubilee Hills liquor-shop tender. The documents needed to prove the wider claims are still missing.
The tender dispute remains ahead of the documents that could settle it.
A report has alleged that Telangana’s Prohibition and Excise Department handled a fresh tender for a high-value Jubilee Hills liquor outlet with inadequate public disclosure. It says six applications were received and Rs 18 lakh collected in application fees, against an estimated Rs 4.5 crore if 150 applications had been submitted. The report provides no tender notice, application register or calculation sheet for those figures.
The same report alleges that the licence was intended for an associate of an unnamed “key leader”. That claim, the identity of the alleged beneficiary, any political connection and any rule violation have not been independently established. A follow-up report says an Excise letter denied the allegations, but the signed letter was not available for examination.
Official Excise pages confirm that district gazettes are published, but the relevant 2026 notification, allotment order and applicant list were not retrieved. Tonique’s own website establishes its Jubilee Hills business connection, not a political one. The department has yet to put the documents that would settle the matter into public view. For now, the tender is better documented as a dispute than as a scandal.
