KCR’s water battle has no date yet
The BRS says it will take the irrigation fight to the people. The route, schedule and headcount are still waiting for paperwork.
The BRS has announced a water campaign, but its date and route remain undecided.
K. Chandrashekar Rao has asked BRS legislators to attend the Telangana Assembly and Council sessions and raise irrigation issues against the Congress government, according to reports on the party’s September 6 Legislature Party meeting at Erravelli.
The meeting covered Kaleshwaram, the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme and Krishna water utilisation. Reports also said Rao would lead a public mobilisation after the session. His reported words were less bureaucratic: “If the same neglect of Kaleshwaram continues, I will personally announce an action programme with lakhs of people for irrigation water. We should prepare for another battle for water.”
The announcement is corroborated. The campaign, however, has no published date, route, district schedule or confirmed headcount. Whether Rao or K.T. Rama Rao would lead a padayatra was also still under discussion in one report. The Congress government has yet to answer the allegations about releases and project neglect. The BRS has announced the battle; the paperwork has not joined it yet.
