KTR offers one probe, Revanth gets a choice
The BRS working president wants a sitting judge to examine both families’ assets from 1954 onwards, after the Congress chief minister raised land allegations in the Assembly.
A proposed judicial inquiry remains under consideration.
K.T. Rama Rao has challenged Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to agree to a judicial inquiry into the properties and assets of both families from 1954 to the present. KTR proposed an inquiry by a sitting High Court or Supreme Court judge, after Revanth Reddy raised allegations in the Assembly about land linked to former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and his relatives.
Revanth Reddy reportedly said KCR and his family collectively held 439 acres across nine districts, 24 mandals and 31 villages. Other reported figures put the total at about 440 acres and included allegations involving government land and proxy ownership. The research reviewed does not establish any of those claims as findings.
KTR has also sought an Assembly debate, the lifting of suspended BRS legislators and time for the party to answer the allegations. He said the BRS was prepared to remain in the House for a month and accept punishment if Revanth Reddy proved his charges. He also pointed to KCR’s declared 2023 election-affidavit assets of about Rs 59 crore and asked how the chief minister acquired his Jubilee Hills property.
The Congress government has yet to say whether it accepts the reciprocal probe. For now, Telangana has allegations, an offer to investigate both sides and no judge holding the file.
