Medak’s 4.6 lakh ‘missing’? Show us the roll

A Telugu report claims the Special Summary Revision scrubbed 4,60,000 entries from the combined Medak region’s draft rolls — 2,98,278 in Sangareddy, 1,18,786 in Siddipet and 42,936 in Medak — with 86,364 tagged as deceased. Those figures add up cleanly on the page. They are not yet backed by an official roll or CEO Telangana statement readers can see.

Start with the calendar. The Election Commission’s published SIR schedule pairs Telangana with Punjab: draft electoral roll on July 31, 2026; claims and objections through August 30; final roll on October 1. The report pegs a Telangana draft to August 17. If there was a district-specific revision or a revised state timetable, the document isn’t public on the CEO’s site — and until it is, August 17 reads like a mystery date.

Process next. By the ECI’s own voter portal, the CEO is responsible for preparing and revising the rolls; the Commission just hosts what it gets. CEO Telangana’s procedure notes say only EROs and AEROs can order additions, deletions and corrections. If 86,364 entries were marked deceased, what was the data source, and were notices issued? The material on record doesn’t say.

For voters, the live question is simple: are eligible electors being struck off, or are duplicates, migrants and deaths finally being cleaned? Claims-and-objections are open per the national schedule — restoration is supposed to be possible. The district-wise PDFs that would settle this are exactly what’s missing in public view.

Telangana built its reputation on getting the lists right and services to match. If the numbers are real, publish the rolls and the reasons. If they’re not, say so with the same specificity. The BJP-led Centre has enough practice shifting goalposts; our rolls don’t need to learn the trick.
