MGM ceiling falls; official response rises
A ceiling portion fell in Warangal’s MGM Hospital, injuring people. The casualty count is still having a committee meeting.

A portion of the ceiling fell in the Aarogyasri ward of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Warangal on September 20, injuring patients and hospital workers. The exact toll remains unclear: reports put it at three or six, with conflicting names and categories. No casualty register, hospital bulletin or medical statement reviewed for this report settles the count.
The hospital administration shifted people from the affected ward and secured the area. Superintendent Dr K. Ramkumar Reddy said the incident occurred in an old building because of water seepage, and that only small pieces of the ceiling fell. Health Secretary Dr Christina Z. Chongthu later directed engineering officials to inspect government hospital buildings and improve safety and maintenance. The inspection result is not public in the material reviewed.
On September 21, former West Warangal MLA and BRS leader Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar, accompanied by BRS workers, was reportedly stopped near the mortuary while trying to inspect the site. Party workers alleged that police used force; the account has no police statement, CCTV record or independent eyewitness confirmation. A report said Bhaskar felt giddy and fell. The police have not publicly answered the account. The roof fell first; the explanations are still under inspection.
