Perapalla acres, plenty of claims

NKLIS land acquisition at Perapalla is on record. The alleged Congress-era record-fixing isn’t — yet.

A large government land-acquisition file marked with survey numbers sits on a table beside a sealed folder labelled with a question mark; behind it, survey stones and a Telangana irrigation tank landscape stretch across Perapalla.

The Perapalla acquisition is documented; the alleged record-fixing still awaits records.

Official papers show the Narayanpet–Kodangal Lift Irrigation Scheme is acquiring land at Perapalla for the Jayamma Tank. A Collector’s proceeding dated June 10, 2025 approves a preliminary notification for 326.34 acres under the 2013 land acquisition law, listing survey numbers in the 87/92/111 cluster and appointing the RDO, Narayanpet as the Land Acquisition Officer. The district website lists multiple Perapalla notifications and acreages.

What’s not in the government record reviewed: proof of the big charge doing the rounds — that Congress leaders, their fixers and revenue officials cooked up “1969” assignment entries, shuffled names across notifications and diverted compensation. Those are political allegations at this point, including from former MLAs Chittem Ram Mohan Reddy and Patnam Narender Reddy, who demanded Lokayukta and Vigilance complaints. The assignment register pages, the alleged 201-name list for 771.23 acres, and any inquiry order were not published with the claims.

One documented procedural shortcut: the government issued G.O. Ms. No. 3 on February 12, 2025 exempting the project from Chapters II and III of the 2013 Act, so no Social Impact Assessment was conducted. That is an exemption on paper, not evidence of fraud. If the Congress leadership wants to deny manipulation, it can start by putting the 1969 committee pages and the notification name lists on the table — instead of hoping a leak and a headline will do the explaining for it.
