PRLI pump runs 80 minutes, promises still need water

The first Lift-1 pump of Telangana’s Palamuru–Rangareddy project was reportedly restarted on September 17 and used to lift Krishna water towards the Narlapur reservoir. The pump ran from 11:40 a.m. to 1 p.m.; project sources cited by a report put the flow at about 3,000 cusecs. No public pump log, reservoir reading or government release confirming those details was found in the available material.
The Telangana Irrigation Department’s project brief says PRLI is designed to lift 2 TMC a day for 60 days during the flood season. It lists Lift-1 near Yellur with eight 145 MW pumps, a 104-metre lift and a capacity of 85 cubic metres per second. A July report had recorded a successful wet run for the first pump after technical problems, but it does not independently confirm the September operation.
The Congress government has not publicly explained why pumping stopped after 80 minutes, whether the other pumps are ready, or how much water entered Narlapur. For now, the pump has a reported restart. Telangana still needs the operating record.
