Rashmika’s Subbulakshmi biopic has a title, not a release date
Geetha Arts has announced MS – A Legacy On Screen, with Rashmika Mandanna in the lead and Gowtam Tinnanuri directing. The rest is still waiting for its first look.
The makers announced the title and creative team at the Music Academy; a release date is yet to be confirmed.
Geetha Arts has announced MS – A Legacy On Screen, a biopic of Carnatic vocalist and Bharat Ratna awardee M.S. Subbulakshmi, with Rashmika Mandanna in the lead. Gowtam Tinnanuri will direct and Anirudh Ravichander will compose the music, according to the announcement reproduced by NDTV.
The film is associated with Geetha Arts, Rockline Entertainment and Bunny Vas Works. Its Chennai launch was scheduled for September 16 at the Music Academy, marking Subbulakshmi’s 110th birth anniversary, with Kamal Haasan announced as chief guest. The film has a title, a cast lead, a director and a composer. Cinema has been asked to wait for the plot.
The makers have not yet confirmed the languages, release date, supporting cast, screenplay credits, shooting schedule or the scope of the story. There is also no confirmed information on whether Mandanna will sing, receive Carnatic training or use playback. Reports have described the project as pan-India, but its languages and release markets have not been specified.
