Ration cards “from Aug 15”? Show the memo
A report says Telangana will hand out 1.05 crore new ration cards on August 15 with the CM in Sangareddy. The government portal doesn’t show that memo, that date or that number. What is on record: this Congress government started a card drive in July 2025.
The reported August 15 distribution awaits a published government memo.
A Telugu report says the Telangana government will distribute 1.05 crore newly sanctioned ration cards on August 15, 2026, with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy launching the programme in Sangareddy and simultaneous handouts in all 119 constituencies from 2 pm to 4 pm. It attributes this to an “official memo” by N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Minister for Irrigation, Food and Civil Supplies. The memo itself is not published in that report, and we could not locate it on the state portal, the Civil Supplies pages or Sangareddy’s site.
What is on the record: the state’s own release says Revanth Reddy formally launched new ration-card distribution at Tirumalagiri, Tungaturthi (Suryapet) on July 14, 2025, under the Civil Supplies Department, with “lakhs of new ration cards” being issued and over 26 lakh name corrections in existing cards. That establishes the drive exists; it does not confirm a fresh August 15 statewide push, a Sangareddy launch this year, the 1.05 crore figure, laminated cards, or a two-hour window.
The AePDS portal currently lists 1,05,42,188 total cards and 17,322 shops, last refreshed June 24, 2026. That is the live database, not proof that 1.05 crore brand-new cards are queued for handout on a single day. Without the memo number, date and text, the August 15 schedule, venues and quantum remain a claim, not policy.
If the Congress government in Telangana plans a mass distribution in two hours flat, it can publish the memo and the constituency-wise plan. Until then, the number is a boast hunting a document.
