Two workers were killed and nine injured in a reactor blast and fire at Hazelo Lab Private Limited in Dothigudem village, Pochampally mandal, late on Friday, August 21. Police identified the deceased as Chennu Nagi Reddy, 31, of Chinnagudem (Nalgonda), and Naganaboina Naresh Kumar, 29, of Choudaram (Khammam).

Pochampally sub‑inspector J Jagan said the reactor exploded at 10:27 pm during the night shift, with 12 workers on duty. A Dial 100 call triggered the response; fire tenders from Choutuppal, Bhongir and Hayathnagar fought the blaze until about 4 am Saturday.

According to a police account carried by PTI, of the nine injured, two suffered burns over 50% while seven sustained minor injuries. The injured were shifted to different hospitals. Police have registered a case and are investigating the cause and any safety lapses. The specific chemical process underway has not been disclosed.

Hazelo Lab Private Limited did not have a public statement on record in the reports reviewed. Families will be looking for answers; the investigation needs to supply them, not platitudes.
