Government offices, schools and colleges in Hyderabad-Secunderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri are reportedly to remain closed on Friday, September 25, for the Ganesh idol immersion procession. Telangana Today reported that November 14, a second Saturday, will be a working day in lieu.
The report attributed the order to Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, who is listed as Chief Secretary on the official Telangana State Portal. A second report repeated the same details. The formal government order, however, was not available in the official sources reviewed: its number, issuing department and exact wording remain undisclosed.
The state’s 2026 holiday calendar lists September 14 for Vinayaka Chavithi, but not September 25 as a general holiday. This could still be a later, location-specific order. Whether private educational institutions, universities, courts, banks, essential services or the entire three districts are covered is not clear. For now, the holiday is reported; the paperwork is still taking the day off.
