SIR documents come later, not at the door
Telangana voters will submit extra documents only if notices are issued after verification, with the final roll scheduled for October 1.
Documents will be sought after verification, not during the initial enumeration visit.
Telangana’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) will not require every voter to hand over a file of documents during the house-to-house enumeration. The Election Commission’s process says only the Enumeration Form will be collected at that stage; documents come later for electors whose details cannot be linked or whose records show discrepancies. The paperwork, at least, has been told to wait its turn.
The document requirement depends on date of birth. Voters born in India before July 1, 1987, must provide one listed document establishing their date or place of birth. Those born from July 1, 1987 to December 2, 2004, must provide documents for themselves and either parent. Those born after December 2, 2004, must provide documents for themselves and both parents, according to the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer’s reported guidance.
The indicative list includes birth certificates, passports, educational certificates, permanent-residence and caste certificates, government-issued identity documents, family registers and land or house allotment certificates. Aadhaar is subject to separate ECI directions. NRC appears only “wherever it exists”; the Telangana CEO has said it does not apply in the state.
Enumeration is scheduled for June 25 to July 24, the draft roll for July 31, hearings and verification until September 28, and final publication for October 1, 2026. The Election Commission has supplied a calendar. It has not yet supplied every practical answer voters will need about submissions, originals or missing parent records.
