Subbulakshmi chose Rashmika, says producer
The claim comes from Allu Aravind; the film has been launched, but its release date remains undisclosed.
The film was launched in Chennai, but its release date and several production details remain undisclosed.
Rashmika Mandanna has been announced as M.S. Subbulakshmi in M.S. – A Legacy On Screen, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, with music by Anirudh Ravichander. The film was launched at Chennai’s Music Academy on September 16, Subbulakshmi’s 110th birth anniversary. Kamal Haasan gave the ceremonial clap, because even a biopic launch now needs a franchise-sized opening ceremony.
Producer Allu Aravind said Subbulakshmi had, in a spiritual sense, “chosen” Rashmika for the role. That is Aravind’s claim, not an independently established fact: the research contains no evidence that Subbulakshmi expressed such a preference during her lifetime, or that her family made that claim.
Geetha Arts said the team had met Subbulakshmi’s family and thanked them for their “unconditional support”. That confirms the production house’s statement, not the precise legal or creative scope of the family’s approval. No release date, shooting date, language list or archival-recording plan has been announced in the material reviewed. The film has a title, a cast announcement and a blessing from the producer. The rest is still waiting for the first take.
