Surekha’s Delhi summons remains a rumour with luggage

Konda Surekha’s cabinet removal is documented. The reported Delhi summons and possible cabinet-rank post are not.

A stamped cabinet-removal file sits on a government desk beside a wobbling luggage trolley carrying a suitcase marked “DELHI?” and an unopened envelope marked “SUMMONS?” in a Telangana office corridor.

The cabinet removal is documented; the reported Delhi summons remains unconfirmed.

Konda Surekha’s removal from the Telangana Council of Ministers is on the record. The Governor dropped her with immediate effect on September 3, 2026, on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s advice. The Chief Minister’s Office had said its recommendation was already with the Governor. (Telangana Today; The Indian Express)

A report now says senior Congress leaders have asked Surekha to come to Delhi and that the party may be considering a cabinet-rank position for her in Telangana. It does not name the leaders, reproduce the alleged message or provide a direct quote from Surekha, Meenakshi Natarajan or the Congress high command. Its language says the offer is merely “believed” and “appears” to be under consideration. (The Hans India)

That leaves the cabinet removal as documented and the Delhi summons as an unconfirmed report. Surekha has disputed responsibility for her daughter’s remarks, asking, “Why should I be held responsible for statements made by my daughter?”, and has alleged political vendetta and pressure on the Congress leadership. Those remain her claims. (The News Minute)

The Congress has not publicly confirmed the summons or the proposed post. For now, Delhi has been reported; it has not been established.
