TDP asks for clarity, then declares clarity complete

The Telugu Desam Party’s position on the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision dispute completed a small but useful journey in 24 hours: from “please explain” to “nothing more to explain”.
On September 25, TDP Lok Sabha floor leader Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu defended the exercise in Andhra Pradesh but said the EC should provide clarification and maintain transparency whenever questions were raised. On September 26, TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described the EC’s response as a “unanimous clarification” that had “put to rest all the misconceptions”.
The EC said final decisions were unanimous and that internal notes and differing views were normal parts of institutional deliberation. Reports also said Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had raised objections on several occasions, while the EC’s response did not address every concern point by point. That leaves a narrower conclusion than Naidu’s: TDP changed its public posture; it did not establish that every underlying concern had vanished.
The clarification was requested on September 25. By September 26, the TDP had apparently received the deluxe version: clarification with closure included.
