Telangana has sought 50 additional workdays and Union funding; a decision and timetable remain unavailable.
The Telangana Legislative Assembly adopted a resolution on September 18 seeking Union assistance for what it described as an El Niño-induced crisis, according to published reports. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka moved the resolution on the final day of the session; Speaker Gaddam Prasad then adjourned the House sine die.
The Assembly sought 50 additional days of VB-G RAM G employment beyond the statutory 125-day guarantee, with the Union government bearing the full cost. It also sought relaxation of the reported 60-day seasonal suspension and an increase in the labour budget. If granted, the request would take the entitlement to 175 days. The reported package also includes disaster assistance, crop and drinking-water support, 1,500 MW of additional power, five million tonnes of coal and a Rs 20,000-crore special package.
The India Code record confirms the 125-day statutory guarantee. It does not confirm Telangana’s requested extension or any approval. The full resolution, affected districts, cost estimate and Union response have not been published in the material consulted. Telangana has made its demand. The BJP-led Centre has yet to answer it with either a decision or, more usefully, money.
