The Paradise gets ₹500; the memo gets creative
Telangana has reportedly permitted a ₹500 paid show for The Paradise, while reports cannot agree whether its welfare contribution is ₹1 crore or ₹1 lakh.
The reported permission fixes ticket prices but leaves the welfare contribution unresolved.
Telangana has reportedly permitted one paid show of The Paradise at 6.30 pm on September 23, a day before the film’s reported theatrical release. The ticket price is ₹500, inclusive of GST, according to reports citing a September 20 Home Department memo.
The reported permission also allows enhanced rates for five shows a day from September 24 to October 3: an additional ₹48 and ₹23 for single screens across the two periods, and ₹95 and ₹45 for multiplexes and special theatres. Theatres were also reportedly told to screen awareness messages on narcotics, drug use and cybercrime. Routine cinema administration, now with a small price ladder attached.
The welfare contribution is where the paperwork develops a plot twist. Several reports put it at ₹1 crore for the Telugu Film Industry Employees’ Welfare Committee account operated by the Telangana Film Development Corporation. Another report says ₹1 lakh, while one reproduced version writes “₹1,00,000 (Rupees One Crore)” — two amounts that are not remotely neighbours. The government memo and any payment receipt have not been publicly located, so the final figure remains unresolved. The film may open on September 24. The arithmetic has opened earlier.
