Vote theft claim, evidence still on leave

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has accused the BJP-led Centre of using the Special Intensive Revision to delete Congress-supporting voters in Telangana, including SC, ST and minority voters. He also alleged that the BRS was supporting the BJP’s effort. The claims were made at a Congress workers’ meeting in Kodangal, according to a report published on September 5.
The allegation is politically real. The deletion pattern is not yet established. No consulted record shows that the BJP directed officials to remove voters, that any specific voter was wrongfully deleted, or that Congress, SC, ST or minority voters were disproportionately removed.
The Election Commission’s stated process requires notice, an opportunity to object and an Electoral Registration Officer’s decision before deletion. Draft and final rolls, along with claims and objections, are to be made available to parties and the public. Telangana’s Chief Electoral Officer lists the 2026 draft rolls, but the underlying files and deletion records could not be independently inspected.
The final roll is reportedly scheduled for October 19. Whether that date stands, and whether Telangana’s reported extension request was accepted, remain unconfirmed. The BJP, BRS and Election Commission had not publicly responded in the consulted material. For now, the charge is a statement. The rolls are still waiting to enter the argument.
