Voter rolls scrubbed; keep your Form 6 handy

Telangana’s SIR ends August 3. The ‘uncollectible’ pile moved from 13.34 lakh mid‑July to about 27 lakh by late July, per reports quoting the CEO. Draft rolls are due August 10 with a formal window to fix errors.

A large Telangana electoral-roll filing cabinet is labelled with stacks marked “Uncollectible,” while a small Form 6 lies on a citizen’s desk beside a calendar marked August 10 and September 9.

The draft roll is due on August 10, followed by a claims-and-objections window.

Telangana’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) door‑to‑door check runs through August 3; the draft electoral roll is slated for August 10, followed by a claims‑and‑objections window till September 9 and final rolls on October 12, according to reports citing the Election Commission’s schedule.

The cleanup is large. A July 18 report put “uncollectible” entries at 13.34 lakh as of July 17, with deaths, migration, duplicates and untraceable voters described as the main reasons. A later report on July 27 quoted Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy saying around 27 lakh electors had been tagged uncollectible by then, including 7.28 lakh dead, 14.85 lakh permanently shifted, 4 lakh enrolled elsewhere and 1.38 lakh untraceable or absent. The CEO has also said the SIR’s aim is to clean rolls, not delete genuine voters, and pointed those omitted to Form 6 for fresh enrolment or Form 8 for corrections or shifting.

On form coverage, a mid‑July snapshot said 3,38,26,421 enumeration forms were distributed statewide, with about 2.06 crore digitised by July 17 — roughly 61%. Another report a day earlier logged 100% distribution and 1.98 crore digitised. Different dates, different totals; the trend is the point.

What matters now: if your name is missing in the August 10 draft, file during the corrections window — online or at BLO/ERO offices per the CEO’s guidance — instead of discovering it at the booth. The BJP and Congress will happily argue about narratives later; your vote needs paperwork first.
