The Telangana government has offered a total for the 22-A prohibited-properties list, but not the one comparison needed to settle the dispute: how much land was added after Congress came to power.
Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy reportedly told the Assembly that 1,02,05,250 acres were on the list as of August 31, down by 47,440 acres from before December 7, 2023. He attributed the reduction to 23,000 acres restored to people and about 20,000 acres removed after errors in old government orders were found. The figures were reported from his Assembly statements; the underlying official table and transcript were not located.
BRS leader T. Harish Rao has demanded the additions, deletions and a deadline for clearing wrongly listed properties. That is the missing ledger. Separate reporting cites Revenue Department figures for 21,922 acres corrected after classification errors and 23,000 acres removed through the TM-15 module, but the department has not published the source dataset in the material reviewed.
The government’s Bhu Bharati portal does provide a grievance process for seeking deletion from the prohibited list. It does not publish pending applications, disposal times or district-wise outcomes. The Congress government has supplied the headline number. It has not supplied the audit trail. In land records, “trust us” is not a category.
