BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao has ruled out an electoral alliance with the BJP ahead of the 2028 Telangana Assembly election. Speaking at O. P. Jindal Global University in Sonipat on Wednesday, he said: “There will be no alliance with the BJP.”
The position is consistent with remarks attributed to KTR in June, when he was reported to have said that the BRS would contest future elections independently and had no plans for alliances. The September report describes the same direction, although it does not publish a longer verbatim quote saying the party will contest alone. Politics, for once, has supplied a sentence short enough to survive editing.
KTR also said the BRS could support a delimitation bill if any increase in Lok Sabha seats were proportionate across states. He said southern states currently account for 24 per cent of Lok Sabha representation. The BJP has not publicly responded to the no-alliance statement in the material reviewed. The BRS has ruled out an electoral tie-up; it has not ruled out issue-based positions in Parliament. The BJP will have to campaign without borrowing a regional party’s arithmetic.
