Congress promised 12%; 2024 records 10%

BRS leaders used a Mahabubnagar meeting on September 15, 2026, to accuse the Congress government of leaving tribal welfare promises in the brochure department. Former minister V. Srinivas Goud said Congress had promised Rs 12 lakh for every SC/ST family, 12% ST reservation in government procurement and contracts, and Podu land pattas. No public response from the Congress government to these allegations was identified in the material reviewed. [1]
The promises were real. Congress’s 2023 SC/ST declaration pledged Rs 12 lakh per SC/ST family over five years, 12% ST reservation and Podu-patta rights. [2][3][4] But the delivery record is less complete than either side’s slogans. Telangana’s Socio-Economic Outlook 2024 describes Ambedkar Abhaya Hastham as a proposed Rs 12 lakh pilot for 11,900 SC families—not a documented statewide ST benefit. [5] The 2024–25 medical admissions prospectus records ST reservation at 10% in that context, not 12%. [6]
The Podu record is similarly unfinished: official portals list RoFR records and beneficiary lists, but the material reviewed does not provide current statewide figures for titles issued, pending claims or Mahabubnagar. The Congress government has not published the consolidated answer. It has, at least so far, left the paperwork doing the governing.
