K T Rama Rao held a breakfast meeting with BRS MLAs and MLCs at his Narsingi residence on September 10, a day after 22 BRS MLAs were suspended from the Telangana Assembly for the remainder of the Monsoon Session. Multiple reports described the meeting as a discussion on the party’s response and future strategy. The Congress government had removed the Opposition from the House; the BRS, at least, was still meeting to decide what to do next.
A detailed account said the meeting discussed the Tukkuguda land allocation involving Tesseract, a possible complaint to the National Human Rights Commission and an intensified agitation against the Congress government. But no BRS release, complaint, video, named participant or official resolution confirming those decisions was found. A separate report said BRS leaders were expected to plan protests, including a mock Assembly, but that too was not formally confirmed as a decision taken at the breakfast meeting.
The suspensions followed disruptions and protests by BRS members, who sought discussion on alleged police action against women legislators and alleged threats against BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao. KTR and other BRS leaders also met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on September 9, according to a report quoting KTR’s comments. The Congress government has not publicly answered the broader allegations in the material reviewed. It has, however, ensured that the Opposition’s next strategy meeting happened over breakfast rather than in the Assembly.
